IPL Playoffs 2024: KKR vs SRH in first qualifier & RR vs RCB in eliminator

Rajasthan Royals (RR) finished on number three on points table in the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and will face fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the first eliminator on May 22. Table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on the other hand, will face SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the first qualifier on May 21. Both the matches will be played in Ahmedabad.

The fixtures were decided after KKR vs RR on Sunday (May 19) was washed out without a ball being bowled. After the league stage, KKR finished with 20 points with nine wins, three losses and two no results in 14 games.

SRH, who earlier in the day won by four wickets against Punjab Kings (PBKS), finished with 17 points from eight wins, five losses and one no result. Rajasthan also finished with 17 points from eight wins, five losses and one no result but were pushed down the order by SRH owing to a poor net run rate.

RCB, in a dramatic finish on Saturday (May 18), sealed the last spot with a win over Chennai Super Kings. It was RCB’s sixth win on the trot after managing just one in their first eight games. Bengaluru finished with 14 points from seven wins and seven losses in 14 games.

Apart from RCB, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and CSK also finished with 14 points each but failed to make it to the playoffs due their lower net run rate than RCB.

Among others, Gujarat Titans finished eighth on the points table with 12 points from five wins and two results to go with seven losses as well. Punjab Kings finished ninth with 10 points from five wins and nine losses.

Five-time champion Mumbai Indians finished last with eight points from four wins and 10 losses in Hardik Pandya’s first season as skipper.
